In a unique and enlightening collaboration, students and faculty from Temasek Polytechnic recently had the extraordinary opportunity to explore the rich history and values of Freemasonry on December 2, 2023 at the iconic Freemasons Hall in Singapore located at 23A Coleman St, Singapore 179806. Organized under the Masonic Charitable Fund Singapore – Lodge St. Andrew Bursary Activity, this event aimed to foster understanding, bridge gaps, and provide an immersive experience into the world of Freemasonry.
Bridging Academia and Tradition:
The visit was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Ms. Zenna Kua, pursuing a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science, and Mr. Cheng Siang Sin, specializing in Accounting & Finance. Accompanying them were esteemed faculty members Mr. Samuel Wee, Director of Student Support & Career Services, Ms. Kiat Ching Yee, Assistant Director of Student Support & Career Services, and Dr. Cha Cher Liang, Assistant Director of Student Development & Alumni Affairs.
Guided by Wisdom:
Leading the discourse were two prominent Freemasons, Bro. Jason Lim, Right Worshipful Master of Lodge St. Andrew No. 1437 S.C., and Bro. Yip Wing Kong. They delved into the essence of Freemasonry, dispelling common misconceptions and emphasising values, brotherhood, and community service.
Brotherhood in Action:
Assisting the visitors were dedicated brothers from Lodge St. Andrew, including Bro. Robert Fuchs, Bro. John Louie Marfil, Bro. Marcus Gho Jin Wee, Bro. Lester Poon Yu Da, Bro. Ryan Go, Bro. Kelvin Tay, Bro. Kin Juffri and Gabriel Antonio (Candidate). Their warm welcome and willingness to share insights added a personal touch to the experience.

The highlight of the visit included an exploration of the Masonic library, where Bro. N. Rajamohan, Custodian of Freemasons’ Hall, passionately detailed the history of Freemasons in Singapore through the vast collection of Masonic books and records of the library. The visitors were treated to a fascinating journey through time, discovering the significant contributions to Singapore by the Freemason community.
Fellowship and Nourishment:
The Visit to Freemasons’ Hall concluded with a fellowship session at The Mason’s Table. During the High Tea and Coffee reception, the guests and brethren engaged in meaningful conversations while fostering connections between the visiting academics and the age-old traditions of Freemasonry.
