The Masonic Charitable Fund-Oldham Lodge Bursary: Supporting Underprivileged Scouts at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea

The Masonic Charitable Fund (MCF) and Oldham Lodge jointly sponsored four underprivileged Scouts with bursaries to enable them to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree at Saemangeum, South Korea, in August 2023. The President of the MCF, W Bro Dr Brian Shegar and W Bro Henry Baey of Oldham Lodge were on hand at the airport to see them off to what would probably be a one-in-a-lifetime experience for the four recipients. Beyond financial assistance, the bursaries will enable them to personally experience Korea’s cultural diversity, strengthen friendships and foster greater connections within the global Scouting community.

W Bro Dr Shegar said that the close collaboration of the lodges and the Masonic Charitable Fund has enabled the Masonic fraternity to collectively provide financial assistance and support to students in need within the schools, polytechnics, and other educational institutions in Singapore.

He further emphasized the power of these projects to inculcate the ethos and teachings of the Masonic Brotherhood and foster the spirit of benevolence and charity within the fraternity.

The MCF Board would like to take the opportunity to thank the members of Oldham Lodge for their generosity and support for the success of this project.
